Everybody possesses one. Everybody uses this tool each day…some of us build things, others of us tear things down…some of us even let it lay dormant what do you do…do you use your constructively…or do you tear down walls and people with your tool.
If you haven’t guessed it by now, I am talking about your tongue. After all, “it is the most powerful tool you will ever possess and use…use it properly and you can fix anything.” When I realized the power that lied in my tongue and how by simply changing the way I spoke about my situations, problems, concerns, etc, I could shift and change things and prevent ill thoughts from ruining my day….so many things changed. Incredible things started to happen.
I remember back in the day when I had a filthy mouth and as a young lady, my speech was not reflective of the way I wished that people would treat me. Almost like turning on the light, I realized that I only had a potty mouth in certain circumstances. Well, I figured that if I could control it sometimes, I could control it at all times and from then on I began to act and speak like the young lady that I wanted to be considered as. By switching the context in which I used my tool, I noticed so many things changing in and around me. I naturally got more respect from my co-workers and my friends started to take me seriously. I started to take me seriously. When I noticed the power with which I spoke and how people listened to what I had to say because I had a valuable contribution to any meeting or conversation, it boosted my confidence and showed me of the power that had been laying dormant all because I didn’t apply my tool correctly to fix and change the mindsets of others, including myself.
The tongue is a powerful tool. What do you fix with yours? It’s been said that we need to stop telling God our problems and start telling our problems about God…that’s a great way to use your tool, isn’t it? The key here is to stop talking about things you cannot change and to focus your tongue, time and attention on things that you can….Change what you speak and watch what you seek also change…I invite you to take your tool and use it to fix something or someone by offering words of edification and encouragement. I encourage you to realize that when you speak the Incredible, Incredible things will happen.
After all, if you don’t have anything empowering to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all.
